Senior Midday Supervisor – Job Advert

St George’s Beneficial C of E Primary School is a small, friendly community school where every child is valued. We are located in the heart of Portsea and support 330 children from nursery through to year 6 who are all from diverse backgrounds.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, highly competent and proactive friendly person to lead our lovely team of lunchtime supervisors. The start date for this position is November 2021

You must be flexible, adaptive and willing to work in partnership with class teachers and senior leaders in order to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all pupils.

Duties will include:

  • That of a midday assistant
  • Organising and supervising the team of midday assistants
  • Ensure adequate supervision of pupils in all areas of the school building and grounds
  • Promote the schools lunchtime behaviour policy and undertake associated administration

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to manage a team
  • Have successful experience working with children in a school environment
  • Be able to prioritise and keep calm under pressure
  • Have a sense of humour!
  • Have GCSE Maths and English at Grade C and above

You must be flexible, adaptive and willing to work in partnership with class teachers and senior leaders in order to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all pupils.

Duties will include:

  • Reception desk cover
  • Photocopying
  • First Aid
  • Making classroom resources and laminating
  • Ordering and maintaining stock levels
  • Admin support to teachers
  • Creating the weekly school newsletter
  • Organising school trips and afterschool clubs.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to prioritise work load and keep calm under pressure
  • Have a sense of humour!
  • Be a competent user of gmail, excel, word and publisher
  • Have GCSE Maths and English at Grade C and above

Educational Health Care Assistant Job Advert

 St George’s Beneficial C of E Primary School is a small, friendly community school where every child is valued. We are located in the heart of Portsea and support 330 children from nursery through to year 6 who are all from diverse backgrounds.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, experienced Education Health Care Teaching Assistant, to work with a nursery child in our early years foundation stage who has medical needs. The start date for this position is as soon as possible.

You must be flexible, adaptive and willing to work in partnership with class teachers and senior leaders in order to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all pupils.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Qualified to A level /NVQ3 or equivalent level of qualification or experience
  • Working knowledge of medical procedures in supporting individuals with complex needs, e.g. tracheotomy
  • Liaise with outside agencies including SALT and educational psychologist.
  • Experience in supporting play skills and delivering SALT
  • Experience in cleaning the medical equipment including tent throughout the nursery session.
  • General awareness of the current Special Educational needs and disability Code of Practice
  • Previous experience of working in a school or supporting children’s learning and development
  • Have GCSE Maths and English at Grade C and above or equivalent
  • Hold a first aid qualification or be prepared to attend training.

The post is for initially for 15 hours per week either afternoons or 2 and half days, Monday to Friday, term time only and is fixed term until 31st August 2022 (extension possible)

Salary is at pay band 4 point 4-6 FTE £18,948 – £20,159 – actual salary based £6810.05 – £7245.30 on 15 hours per week. The hours will increase as the child goes through school and from September 2022 will be 25 hours per week. Actual Salary for 25 hours per week £11350.08 – £12075.50.

Cleaner – Job Advert

 St George’s Beneficial C of E Primary School is set in the heart of Portsea with children from diverse backgrounds.

We are looking to appoint a cleaner starting October 2021 to work 10 hours per week, when the school day has finished. Monday – Friday, 2 hours per afternoon/evening.

Reporting to the Lead Cleaner, the successful applicant will undertake the cleaning of designated areas and ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are met and maintained within the school.

You must be able to work with a variety of staff, in a school setting, build good working relationships, and be organised, consistent with a positive “can-do” attitude.   We are looking for someone who is very much a team player, willing to work alongside colleagues in a flexible and cooperative way.

The work will involve some heavy lifting and carrying duties, so you will need to be physically fit.

Previous cleaning experience is desirable but is not essential as training can be provided. Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations would be an advantage.

Salary is at Pay Band 1, points 1 £18562

Actual salary for 10 hours per week £5016.75

You will receive a leave entitlement of a 26 days, pro rated to 52 hours per year.

You must be flexible, adaptive and willing to work in partnership with class teachers and senior leaders in order to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all pupils.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Hold relevant qualifications in learning support – such as NVQ/Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. NVQ Childcare and Education etc.
  • Previous experience of working in a school or supporting children’s learning and development
  • Have GCSE Maths and English at Grade C and above or equivalent
  • Hold a first aid qualification or be prepared to attend training.

  • Excellent behaviour management.
  • Experienced in using P.A.C.E style strategies.

The post is for initially for 10 hours per week in the afternoon potentially rising to 25 hours per week in line with the child’s needs. Monday to Friday, term time only and is fixed term until 31st August 2023

This Fixed term appointment is related to the provision of special needs support in respect of the named pupil/s and will continue pending a review of the Education, Health and Care Plan/s or the pupil/s departure from the school, if earlier.

Salary is at point 3-4 £18,562 – £18,948 FTE – actual salary £4447.54 – £4540.03 based on 10 hours

Actual salary based on 25 hours is £11,118.86 – £11,350.08
