We at St. Georges Beneficial School are very excited by the recent Government’s announcement to provide additional funding for PE and school sports.
The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health, Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all children.
Funding for schools will be calculated by the number of primary-aged pupils as at the annual schools census in January 2013. All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £8000 plus premium of £5 per pupil.
Schools can spend this funding only on Sport and PE in school and we have already started planning how we can best spend this money for the benefit of every child. View the St George’s Sport page to see just how we are developing our sports programme.
We are very proud of all our sporting achievements and can’t wait to share our latest successes with you on this website.
